The CORE sponsored Freedom Rides began on May 4, 1961. By May 16th, met with brutality and violence, in Anniston and Birmingham, Alabama, CORE shortly thereafter abandoned the effort. New Freedom Riders picked up the ride in Birmingham, from which they traveled to Montgomery, where they were met with more brutality and violence by a white supremacist mob at the Greyhound Bus Terminal. Come along on the trip as we follow the Freedom Riders and the Freedom Rides during the summer and fall of 1961.
Come along with us as the Freedom Riders continue on their quest to gain equality and defeat Jim Crow in the South.
