This is a continuation of the Fall 2020 class which is available for purchase.

During the Winter Semester we will continue to examine the foreign policy of the People’s Republic of China as it relates to Taiwan, the militarization of the South China Sea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, the Koreas, India and Pakistan. By building on our understanding of China’s hegemonic goals, we will examine how the benign economic goals of the Belt & Road Initiative have potential political and military applications as well.

 

Instructor: Carol McCavitt has been teaching for SPARK since 2009. Before moving to Kansas City, Carol was a high school teacher on Long Island, where she taught Advanced Placement European History for 20 years. Educated as an undergraduate at SUNY at Stony Brook, Carol completed her Master’s Degree at Queens College in NYC and did her doctoral work at Carnegie -Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
