Parking at Troost Buildings
UMKC requires that all vehicles parking in the lots at the 4747 Troost building to utilize electronic parking passes. This includes those using handicapped parking. Failure to do so will result in a parking ticket from the UMKC Campus Police.
SPARK has no control over this issue.
UMKC has converted to an electronic parking pass at all campus locations. Beginning in 2026, we no longer supply hangtags for your visits to campus as the university now has license plate reader capabilities.
SPARK Members can purchase electronic passes that are only good at 4747 Troost for a discounted rate. These lots are located at the rear of the building off of Forest Ave between 47th Terrace and 48th Street. The electronic passes will need to be renewed each quarter.
Those who wish to purchase parking for one day or for other campus locations, should go to parking.umkc.edu. Choose “Order Permits” or learn about the AMP parking app.
NOTE: UMKC does not guarantee that spots will be available even if a parking permit is purchased.
Be aware that the university keeps our building locked and door greeters are generally at the door 20 minutes prior
to the start of class and leave their post
a minute or two prior to the start of
class so they do not miss anything.
You will need to find SPARK on the touch screen to call our office so we can let you
in if there is not a door greeter.
It may take a moment if we are away from
our desk helping other participants.
Free public parking within walking distance is available at the shopping center located at 47th Terrace and Troost Avenue, Please do not park in front of any store front, especially the therapy clinic.
