Administrative Assistant — SPARK (Senior Peers Actively Renewing Knowledge)
About the Role
SPARK is a lifelong learning community affiliated with UMKC, where adults 50+ come together to stay curious, learn something new, and enjoy each other’s company. We’re looking for a friendly, detail-loving Administrative Assistant (Independent Contractor) to be the friendly face behind the scenes keeping our classes running smoothly from the first registration to the final recording.
What You’ll Do
Supporting Our Students
Greet each class day by entering daily attendance into our class management software
Keep student records current and accurate
Help members register for new classes and process payments — sometimes the best part of their day is finding their next course
Keeping Everyone Connected
Email class handouts and links to students each week before class
Perform rough edits of class recordings
Upload finished recordings to our YouTube channel and share the links with students after each class
Setting the Stage
Make class copies on our in-house printer
Help instructors get set up before class, especially in our Smart classrooms
Keep the coffee flowing and the snacks stocked (good conversation needs fuel!)
Who We’re Looking For
You’re comfortable with everyday technology – email, web-based software, YouTube, and AV/classroom equipment – and you know your way around a weekly deadline. You’re organized and dependable, and you genuinely enjoy people: our members are the heart of this job. You’re happy working independently and comfortable with the responsibilities that come with being an independent contractor.
The Details
Location: Onsite at the SPARK offices, 4747 Troost, Kansas City, MO 64110
Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Video Editor
SPARK is looking for an individual to edit recordings of past classes to make them suitable for use by those who did not originally take the class.
- Access to software used to edit MP4 files
- Strong MP4 editing skills.
- Strong organizational skills
