Alexander Brown was born on an Ohio farm, but like many Americans he joined the great migration from rural life to new opportunities. Brown survived two of the deadliest events of the Civil War and supported the great causes of the Freedman’s Bureau, the Suffrage and Temperance movements and the efforts of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR). This is a human-interest story of perseverance and sacrifice wrapped in the history of American transformation.
