Understanding Movies with Joe Heyen (Spring 2026)
March 25-April 29 (six weeks) | 1:00–4:00 pm
In Person Only at 4747 Troost Ave, KCMO, Room 22B – $40
This quarter’s theme will be psychology. Our movies will include Ordinary People, One Flew over the Cuckoo’s nest, Good Will Hunting, and Girl Interrupted.
Each class begins with a short talk with insightful information about the film, followed by a discussion after the movie. NOTE: This class is 3 hours long.
Joe Heyen – Instructor of Introduction to Film at Maple Woods Community College, also film production and editing; documentary filmmaker; past president of the Independent Filmmakers Coalition and MOMMA.
