In this first segment of a year-long investigation of Frederic Chopin, we take a look at Chopin’s life in his homeland of Poland, and the reasons for his emigration to Paris early in his career.
Along this journey we will discover many of the musical genres that are uniquely associated with the composer – genres he either originated or was the first to bring to international prominence.
Interested students may want to read Alan Walker’s Fryderyk Chopin: A Life and Times during this series of courses.
No prior musical knowledge is necessary to enjoy this course.
